Feet to the Beat!!

Well this week is the first week of me being officially in training for the Virgin London Marathon. Today was my first day. It didn't go quite as planned, the intention was to go to my muay thai class and then go for a run along the Thames. So I make a pact with RunHelenRun, a fellow Janathoner to get up just before 0600 to go to class, I drag myself out of bed after going to bed only four hours earlier, get ready and go to the gym.

Admittedly I'm feeling rather pleased I've got up when I could have lay in blah di blah. Anyway, time ticks away but no instructor, I head up to reception to be informed he has literally just called and cancelled. Instead of being annoyed, I don my running kit, crank up the adrenaline junkie mix and take myself for a brisk morning jog along the Thames, utterly fabulous.

I'm very much looking forward to the running challenges 2011 brings, particularly running daily in January. I've not quite figured out how much mileage I want to cover, I'll have a look at my training programme and decide in the next few days.

My first challenge will be to figure put how to add the Janathon logo to my blog, everything else will be easy in comparison I think!!

Need a hanky to whip me into shape

Booohooooo, no running yesterday or today for various reasons, fortunately tomorrow is the start of my official programme so if I miss one of those you can whip me with my hanky! Looking forward to it in the snow!!!

Whoopsy!!

Uh-oh!  Who forgot to set their alarm today to go for a run?  Booooo.  I'm imagining I've got that bottle of 'just running' and am inhaling it right now.  I have no run scheduled for Sunday, I'll fit today's run in then.  Next run scheduled for Sat morning, I may even capture the sunrise, watch this space!!

The first day of the journey

I first got into running because I was never much good at it!  I bimbled around the course this year, didn't really stick to my training programme but completed it.

By some miracle, I got a ballot place for next year, so I fully intend on STICKING TO MY PROGRAMME (the shouting bit is for me, sorry!).

Went for my first bimble today, not been out in a while.  Took it nice and easy as it's been a while.  Thoroughly enjoyed it.  I wish I could bottle the feeling you get during and after a run and can sniff it everytime you start making excuses about training.  I want it to last forever.

This week, couple more bimbles and then the hardwork starts......
